This product has 2 activities (plus vocabulary review sheets) that will help your ESL students practice speaking and listening using rooms of the house and furniture vocabulary. Vocabulary Focus: Rooms of the House (bedroom, bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and laundry room) Furniture and objects in the house Prepositions of location (above, behind, below, between, in, in front of, next to, on, over, under) Grammar Focus: Answering Yes/No questions, Asking questions, Location Speaking / Listening Activity #1: Task Cards: There are 24 Task Cards included. (If you have more than 24 students, simply print more copies.) Students will work in pairs. One student will ask partner questions from his/her task card and then switch. (For example: Student A will ask partner questions from Task Card 1A. Then the partner will ask questions from Task Card 1B.) Each pair of task cards (For example: Task 1A and 1B) has the same picture, but different questions. Speaking / Listening Activity #2: Find the Differences: Students will work in pairs. Each will have a picture of a house. Each picture will have some differences. Students will compare the 2 pictures to determine the differences. Students can write the differences on their papers OR just practice speaking and listening. Depending on the level of students, pairs can look at each other’s paper (option A) OR hide the paper from their partner (option B). Option B will require students to ask and answer questions. (For example: “Is there a cup in the microwave?”) Vocabulary Sheets: Students can use these vocabulary lists as an introduction or review of house vocabulary.
